Ons droom is:
Nege dominees en ander hardlopers wil 240 kilometer in 24 uur om die Vredefortkoepel hardloop om R 240 000 in te samel vir kinders in nood.
Die eerste Run-for-a-child wil ons graag nog in 2024 laat plaasvind: van Donderdag 5 Desember om 16:00 tot Vrydag 6 Desember om 16:00.
Om standhoudend barmhartig te wees
Jesus roep gelowiges op om “barmhartig te wees soos julle Vader barmhartig is.” Dit raak egter al hoe moeliker om standhoudend barmhartig te wees op terreine waar dit regtig nodig is. Op gemeentevlak werk gemeentes hard om ’n verskil in hul gemeenskappe te maak. En waar die Kerk deur RATA, die Pleegsorghuise, TOIBO en Ons Tuis spesialisdienste aanbied vir bejaardes en kinders, word die uitdagings al hoe groter.
Langtermynstrategie – Khesed
Die Algemene Diakensvergadering het PLESION as Nie-Winsgewende Organisasie in die lewe geroep om meer standhoudend ondersteuning aan bogenoemde instansies te gee. Plesion het die opdrag begin deur ’n eiendomsmaatskappy, Khesed, op te rig wat die geleenthede wat die verhuring van eiendomme bied, wil ontgin. Dit is deel van ons langtermyn-strategie.
Korttermynstrategie – LIGHT-FOR-A-CHILD
Onder die LIGHT-FOR-A-CHILD-sambreel wil Plesion geleenthede wat Sport bied benut om fondse te in om op die korttermyn hulp te verleen. Gholf is ‘n handige manier om fondse te genereer en twee uiters suksesvolle Drive-for-a-Child-gholfdae word jaarliks ten bate van Rata aangebied – een in Pretoria en een in Witbank. Die kanse wat fietsry bring, word weer deur die Ride-for-a-child-inisiatief ontgin. Hierdie projek is in sy tweede jaar. Alfonso Theron het verlede jaar die 1000 km plus van die uitmergelende Munga Fietswedren aangedurf om fondse vir RATA te genereer. Hierdie jaar is dit Annetjie van Wyk se beurt. Our dream:
Nine ministers plan to run 240 kilometers in 24 hours around the Vredefort Dome to fundraise R 240 000 for children in need.
This first Run for a child is planned for 2024: from Thursday 5 December at 16:00 to Friday 6 December at 16:00.
To be persistent in mercy and charity.
Jesus call upon believers to “be merciful just as your Father is merciful.” However, persistent mercy and charity in areas where it is really needed, is getting more and more difficult in these times. Congregations are working hard to make a difference in their communities and where the church provides specialist services through RATA, Foster Homes, TOIBO and Ons Tuis for the elderly and children, we are faced with growing challenges.
Long-term strategy – Khesed
The General Deacons Assembly brought PLESION into being as Non-profit Organisation to provide more sustainable support to the institutions named above. Khesed, a real estate company was established as first step in this endeavour, to capitalize on the opportunities afforded by property rental. This is part of our long-term strategy.
Short-term strategy – LIGHT FOR A CHILD
Plesion furthermore aim to make the most of opportunities provided by Sport, to raise funds in the short term with the LIGHT FOR A CHILD umbrella initative. Gholfing events are ideal for generating funds and two very successful Drive for a Child Golf Days are hosted by Rata annually – one in Pretoria and one in Mpumalanga. The Ride for a child initiative benefits from opportunities created by engaging Cycling enthusiasts – currently in its second year. Alphonso Theron tackled the monster 1000 km plus Munga Cycle race to generate funds for RATA in 2023. This year Annatjie van Wyk took up the challenge. The Plesion 24/24/24 Run for a child is the newest initiative under the LIGHT FOR A CHILD umbrella.
